SUBMISSIONS for the New York Photo Awards 2009 to OPEN IN JANUARY

Welcome to the second year of the New York Photo Awards, the official awards of the New York Photo Festival.

Honoring talented photographers from all backgrounds and areas of concentration whose work makes way for new trends in image making, the New York Photo Awards is a celebration of outstanding achievements in the world of contemporary photography.

This spring, Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood will once again be host to the NYPHA award ceremony. On the evening of May 16, 2008, 16 award winners and 32 honorable mentions selected by a panel of renowned photo-world figures will be recognized before an audience of peers and industry luminaries.

Most importantly, the New York Photo Awards will grant its participants with massive exposure. All award winners and honorable mentions can choose to be included in The NYPHA Photo Annual 2009, the second installment in a beautifully produced series of books, published by powerHouse Books; the 2008 installment will be released in the spring. Their work will also be showcased on the website of the New York Photo Festival, and promoted to leading photo magazines in the US and abroad.

With maximum visibility in the creative, editorial, fine art, and fashion worlds, the New York Photo Awards will give the most talented photo practitioners working today the attention they deserve.
